3.4 Linear Programming

For my project I chose amusement parks. My problem is: Donny wants to build an amusement park that will cover at least 800 square feet. He will have two types of rides in his amusement park:roller coasters and kiddy rides. Each roller will 40 square feet. Each kiddy ride will cover 20 square feet. Each ride cost $200 and Donny must stay within his budget of $8000. Write the constraints, and graph the feasible region. Let r be roller coasters and k be kiddy rides. First I write the constraints which are: r is greater than or equal to zero, k is greater than or equal to zero, 40r plus 20k is less than or equal to 800, and 200r plus 200k is less Than or equal to 8000. Then I graph each constraint in an individual color. After that is established , I combine all the graphs onto one which is called a feasible region. I finally, find the vertices which are: (0,0), (40.0), (20,40), and (0.40).

3-D Cube project

For this project, we were in groups of eight and we each had to indivdually construt a corner of the cube. My orginal equation was 3x+4y+2z=12. But then i had to plug in the variables i had for x,y,z. They were (-x,-y,z). When i plug that into the equation it becomes -3x-4y+2z=12. Then i have to find the intercepts for each variable to do that say solving for x y and z are equal to 0 and 12 is divided by -3 and the answer is -4. The intercepts i got were (-4,0,0), (0,-3,0), (0,0,6). Then i have to graph each point on my 3-D model and i have a finished section of the cube. To create the shape i used yarn and threaded it through my model.

Ch1 Real World Functions

For our real world function we chose skittles. The independent variables are the colors of the skittles and the dependent variables are the flavors of the skittles. The domain is {red, orange, yellow, green, purple} and the range is {strawberry, orange, lemon, lime, grape}. Our function is a linear parent function because each color skittle only has one flavor. But, in our relation the candy factory makes a slight mistake and made a red skittle grape flavor. This definitely not a function because when I did the vertical line test it passed through two points.

Ch 1 Graphing Functions

Note: Graph one is my mother's
Graph two is mine

1.) The graphing function I used was y=x^2 (black) it crosses the x-axis as shown on the graph. Then I decided to graph the reflection (purple) y=-x^2. For a reflection all you do is graph the opposite of the original function that's why x is negative. Next is the vertical translation (red) this one crosses the y-axis. The function for this is y=x^2+3 all you do for this is move up 3 making it vertical. For the horizontal translation (blue) y=(x+4)^2. For this transformation a positive 4 is graphed on the negative side. on the other hand, if it were to be a negative 4 then it would be graphed on the positive side. Next for the vertical and horizontal translation (green) y=(x+4)^2+3. This transformation is actually easier then it looks, first you move over 4 (negative x-axis) and then shift up 3 (y-axis). Finally for the vertical, horizontal and reflection translation i graphed y=(-x+4)^2+3. the x is negative because it is a reflection but is also shown drawn on the y and x-axis.

2.) This is what my mom came up with at back to school night. It seems she was confussed because I explained the instructions vaguely and then told her to start drawing. But I actually did a good job explaing hoe to graph transformations because she dre the graph better than me.

Ebony Triangle

Hello... I am currently atending Oakland High Scool and I am a senior. Before high school I went to Julia Morgan School For Girls which was a private middle school Before middle school I went to La Escuelita. I've never worked before but I've done some volunteer work here and there like: Alemeda County Food Bank and soup kitchens in San Fransico's Tenderloin District. When I grow up I want to be a superhero, write novels and plays, and make movies with my older sister. In my spare times i enjoy taking walks, Reading, watching Sci Fi movies and chilling out.

P.S. I've never blogged before today...
