Ch 1. Real World Functions

(Team Pie) For our real life function, my partner Johnny & I chose animals and their habitats. Our independent variable was the type of animal and the dependent variable was their habitat, where they live. The domains are: {Goldfish, Camel, Monkey, Nemo, Frog} and the ranges are: {Freshwater, Desert, Jungle, Saltwater, Swamp}. In order for this relation to be a function, each animal would have their own habitat. For this relation to not be a function, an animal would have to live in a habitat that they couldn't acclimate to. Let's say the monkey decided to try out the saltwater and died because it couldn't get used to that kind of habitat where you have to be able to breathe underwater. So, it wasn't a function when we tried out the vertical line test on the graph because it passed through 2 points.
