For my Ch.2 project, My car is the Subaru Impreza Sti. The speed or miles per hour is 55,60,65,70,75,80 and the mileage or miles per gallon is 29,28.1,26.7,24.1,22.3,20.9. Our scatter plot shows a negative correlation, because we sketched the line of best fit. The two points that I used to find the slope (55,29) and (80,20.9) and the slope is -8.1/25x. Using the point slope form, the slope intercept form is y=-8.1/25x - 11.18. By using a graphing calculator, the value of the correlation coefficient of R = -.989. The value of R tells us that the faster you drive, the lower the miles would be per gallon. The equation I found for the line of best fit is y= -8.1/25x - 11.18. My prediction of mileage for a speed of 55mph is 29 mileage. My prediction of speed for the mileage of 28mpg is 60mph.
